Stringspace specialises in providing experienced, and respected world-class string and jazz musicians for events, whether it’s a wedding ceremony, a cocktail hour, or a full corporate function.

Live music has the magical power to inspire and move us. It has the ability to calm and motivate and to travel us through time. It draws out emotion, lifts our mood, and can significantly heighten both the enjoyment and effectiveness of an event. Live music provides lasting memories through a shared experience. It elevates and enriches us.

Established in 2003, by musician Lucie Miller, her interest and mission is to provide extremely high-quality & vibrant musicians for events throughout Australia. Our musicians perform with orchestras such as the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Sydney Symphony, Melbourne Symphony, Adelaide Symphony, Canberra Symphony & The Australian Brandenburg Orchestra.

Our string quartet repertoire offers a wide range of music, from stylish, timeless classical and baroque to contemporary pop, jazz, and film scores. Our jazz band performs a blend of contemporary jazz, Bossa Nova, and popular jazz standards.

Our YouTube Channel StringspaceLive receives over 10,000 views a day, and has over 6000+ new subscribers & 151k hours of viewing each year. Our string quartet video of Pachelbel Canon is the most viewed classical string quartet video in the world, currently having over 10 million views. Our Spotify Channel has over 70,000 listeners each month and is listened to in 177 out of 195 countries in the world. Our Top 5 most popular Spotify cities are New York, London, Tokyo, Sydney & Melbourne.

Stringspace musicians are talented, experienced, creative, and professional, and all share an artistic approach to performing. Our musicians have a background as university-level performance degree graduates of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the National Academy of Music, Adelaide Elder Conservatorium, the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Tasmanian Conservatorium, Victorian College of the Arts, the University of Western Australia & The Australian National University.

We have performed for The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton – at an event hosted by the Prime Minister at Parliament House, The Prime Minister of Australia’s Australia Day parties at The Lodge, and at the Prime Minister’s Christmas Party at Kirribilli House.

Lucie Miller
Founder, Director

Lucie is from a family of third-generation professional musicians and artists. She has previously worked at the Sydney Theatre Company and performed regularly with the Australian Opera & Ballet Orchestra. She directs & produces all the music film clips at StringspaceLive.

Lucie has arranged and performed on most of our string quartet pop mp3 recordings you can hear on the Stringspace website. She has two violin performance degrees, including a Bachelor of Music (ANU distinction) and a Graduate Diploma from the Sydney Conservatorium (scholarship). During her music degrees, she also attended the Canberra School of Art and the Sydney College of the Arts, majoring in painting. Internationally, Lucie has performed and toured extensively with the Cologne New Philharmonic Orchestra throughout France and Germany.

As director of Stringspace, Lucie regularly organises live music for the Department of the Prime Minister & Cabinet, the Art Gallery of NSW, The National Library of Australia, and the National Gallery of Australia. She has also organised music for Alannah Hill (at her Chapel Street Store), The National Portrait Gallery, Global Television (Sydney & Melbourne), The Sydney Theatre Company, The National Gallery of Victoria, The Sydney Opera House, Sotheby’s, Sydney Writers’ Festival, Melbourne Fashion Week, Sydney Fashion Week, Sydney Dance Company, ACMI – Australian Centre for the Moving Image, State Library of Victoria, State Library of NSW, Victorian State Government, Australian Guild of Screen Composers, the Australian Performing Rights Association, The Law Council of Australia, Vivid Festival, Australian Film Director Peter Weir, The ABC’s Q & A TV Show, InDesign, & Hopscotch Film Director Troy Lum.

Lucie has organised music for companies such as Louis Vuitton, Omega, MYER, M.A.C Cosmetics – including Vogue Fashion Night Out, a string quartet for the Harpers Bazaar Woman of the Year Awards, Home & Away, Porsche, Rolex, Mercedes, BMW, Ferrari Maserati, Oroton, Christian Dior, CHANEL, Grandiflora, Volvo, The Living Edge, Winnings, David Jones, Nespresso, Estee Lauder, Jones Lang LaSalle, Coca-Cola, Bvlgari, SABA, Hugo Boss, Tiffany & Co., Gourmet Traveller, and Vogue.

In 2021, we were contacted by the Netflix TV show Bridgerton. Other 2021 highlights have included providing our Stringspace Orchestra to perform at the CHANEL X Australian Ballet Dinner at the Sydney Opera House, a string quartet for the National Gallery of Australia’s Annual Members Dinner, the Opening of the National Portrait Galleries most extensive exhibition for 2021 – “Australian Love Stories“, a jazz band for the Art Gallery of NSW, a string quartet for an event at the NGV, a solo cellist performing Bach for a Leo Schofield Arts Matterevent, and a Violin Duo to perform via live stream for the opening of the InDesign Awards.

In 2022, we provided string quartets for the Art Gallery of NSW’s La Prairie Dinners, a string duo for an Australian Fashion Week dinner event, Gloss Creative – “Chanel X David Jones 100 Years Celebration Dinner” at the National Gallery of Victoria (orchestra & 4 cello feature), the Department of Foreign Affairs special tribute event at Parliament House, Milan & band for a Dovecote Private Party, a string quartet for the Food, Drink & Wine Festival (Melbourne), a string quartet for the InDesign Gala Awards Night at the NGV, a string trio for the Museum of Contemporary Art’s Directors 2023 Season Launch Party, National Gallery of Australia’s Bridal Showcase at the National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Australia – Jeffery Smart Members Dinner at the National Gallery of Australia – feature operatic performance & dinner music, National Gallery of Victoria’s Opening Night Gala + Mind, Mythos, Muse – McQueen Opening Night Exhibition (2 x jazz bands), National Library of Australia – Patrons Dinner at Parliament House (string quartet), Pink Diamonds – Rio Tinto X Qantas – Dinner at the Museum of Contemporary Art (string quartet & string duo), Tiffany & Co. – Private VIP event at Collins Street, Melbourne (solo cellist).

Most recently, in 2023, our string quartet performed as a feature at the Christian Dior 30 Montaigne Pop Up Apartment launch, a string trio performed background dinner music at the John Olson Gallery Dinner, a jazz band for the design store Living Edge’s cocktail party, the King Charles Birthday celebration hosted by the British High Commission at the National Museum, a VIC Bar corporate event, the Palace Cinema’s Italian Film Festival Opening, a private Tiffany & Co, event, Herbert Smith Freehills cocktail event, Deutsche Bank private dinner at The NGV, Prime Minister Modi QUAD dinner at The Bennelong Restaurant, Sydney Opera House, hosted by the Prime Minister & Cabinet.

So far in 2024, we have provided musicians to perform at the National Library of Australia’s patron’s dinner, a string trio for a private lunch hosted by our Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at Parliament House, a string trio for a private dinner hosted by our Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for James Marape MP Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, a jazz band for the National Gallery of Australia’s Annual Patron’s Dinner, The National Library of Australia, the Department of the Prime Minister & Cabinet – including the Official Welcome Reception for King Charles & Queen Camilla at Parliament House (string quartet), Tiffany & Co. (jazz bands), and a solo violinist for BMW.
