HOW TO BOOK WITH STRINGSPACE:

It is important to read all information carefully before making a booking.

Stringspace will email you a Music List Form. Please return your completed Music List Form by 30 days before your event.


INFORMATION

Live Performance Requirements:

  1. One chair per musician without armrests.
  2. Adequate reading light and performance space.

Breaks – for events longer than 1.5 hours:

  • Our string players will require one 15-minute break within each hour. The first break usually occurs after the 1st hour and a quarter (if your booking is for 2 hours or more). Breaks can be organised to coincide with speeches. Please note that 2-hour wedding ceremony bookings only require one short 5-minute break.

Refreshments:

  • 1 bottle of water per musician for outdoor events is appreciated.
  • Please provide refreshments for events longer than 1.5 hours.
  • Please provide a crew meal if your event is for 3 hours and crosses through a meal time, or if your event is over 3 hours.

Outdoor Events

Shade & shelter:

  • Shelter from direct sunlight or rain is required. This may mean finding a shaded location, e.g. shade from trees, a veranda close to the ceremony or a gazebo. A large secure market umbrella is also a popular solution.
  • If it rains, an alternate location for the event is required. Please note that the alternate backup inclement weather location must be organised within the same booking time and general area.

Booking Time:

  • We always recommend booking for the maximum time you think you may require.
  • 1.25 – 1.5 hours is highly recommended for wedding bookings. 1 hour can potentially also be fine if you’re expecting a fast ceremony and know you’ll be starting on time. We generally recommend 1.25 – 1.5 hours.

Complimentary set-up time:

  • Our string musicians arrive approx. 20 minutes early. They aim to be set and ready 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. They then start performing at the start of your booking time.

Overtime for wedding ceremonies:

Overtime is calculated at:

  • $25 + GST per musician for 10 mins + 1 x admin fee of $100 + GST.
  • $50 + GST per musician for 15 – 20 mins + 1 x admin fee of $100 + GST.
  • There is no charge if your overtime is for 5 minutes only.
  • Please include credit card details on your Booking Confirmation Form for all wedding bookings. Our credit card surcharge is 1.5%.

There is no guarantee that our musicians will be available for unexpected overtime. We always recommend booking in advance the maximum amount of time you may require.

Amplification:

  • We don’t provide amplification for string bookings.
  • Please note amplification for strings is not usually required unless you have over 130 guests.

Special Requests:

  • ALL special requests from our repertoire lists must be finalised at least 30 days before your event.
  • Songs chosen from our main String Quartet repertoire page are included as part of your booking and have no extra charge.
  • Songs from our extra “Private String Quartet Special Request Library page” have additional fees. Please email to check the prices and availability of these songs.
  • Songs that are not already listed on our website can potentially be arranged at an additional fee (time permitting).
  • We do not sell our Stringspace pop sheet music arrangements.

String Duos:

  • Our String Duo prices are for Violin & Cello.

Adding a singer to our strings:

  • This option usually requires professional amplification for both singer & strings. We do not provide amplification for singer & strings.

Space:

  • Our String Quartet will require 2 x 3 metres.
  • Our String Duo requires 1.5 x 2 metres.

Locations:

  • Our string players can be seated in one space at the start of a booking (e.g. ceremony) and then in another area later (e.g. canapes).
  • It usually takes approx. 7-10 minutes to reset a location
  • We recommend setting chairs in both places for a quicker, seamless, smooth change.

Live Performance Requirements:

  2. Access to an electrical outlet.
  3. Arranged parking (where possible) is appreciated. Especially for drummers, guitarists (with amps), keyboard players (when there is no piano at the location), and bass players.
  4. Amplification: Stringspace requires a professional AV operator & PA system for events with over 250 guests. Singers need professional AV for all large-scale events. Some of our singers can provide their own AV for small events. Please check at the time of booking.

Breaks – for events longer than 1.5 hours:

  • Our band requires one 15-minute break per hour. Breaks can be organised to coincide with speeches.

Locations:

  • Resetting a band from one location to another can take time, especially if your booking includes a full drum kit. Please consider this when planning your event.

Jazz Band Amplification:

  • Our jazz band musicians can provide their own amplification for events with up to 250 guests.
  • Amplification is usually recommended for events that have over 130 guests. Double bass and guitar will almost always need some amplification.
  • Please note all venues must have access to electrical outlets.

Singer Prices:

  • Extra fees will apply for including a singer.
  • Prices may vary depending on which singer you are interested in booking.
  • Extra prices may also occur if a singer/band is required to learn a new song.

Singer Amplification:

  • We require professional AV for the entire band if you are adding a singer to the band for a large-scale event. Some of our singers can provide their own AV for small events. Please check at the time of booking.
  • Your venue will usually have an AV company they recommend that is familiar with their space.
  • The pro AV company will mix and blend the sound through their mixer and PA system and control the volume throughout your event.

Instrumentation:

  • Our band consists of a combination of piano/keyboard, bass, drums, guitar & saxophone. E.g. a 3-piece could be guitar, bass & sax OR keyboard, drums & bass. A 4-piece could be sax, guitar or keyboard, bass and drums.

Style:

  • Our jazz musicians mainly perform jazz but can potentially include a few soul & pop songs. Please mention when booking if you have any special requests.

Dancing:

  • We recommend booking a 3-5 piece band for dancing (so that you include both drums and bass).
  • We also recommend a PA system for extra volume.

Set up:

  • Stringspace jazz band musicians aim to be set up & ready to soundcheck 30 minutes before your event.

Extra info:

  • Please provide refreshments for events longer than 1.5 hours and a crew meal if your event is for 3 hours and crosses through a meal time or over 3 hours.

The confirmation deposit is $330. Final payment is due 30 days prior to your event.

Confirming there are no extra fees or charges with Stringspace if your date is postponed due to unexpected CoVid State or Federal Government lockdowns.

If social distancing or industry shutdown policies (mandated by State or Federal Governments) mean that your event can no longer go ahead, we will happily postpone your booking for up to 18 months.

In all other circumstances, our usual cancellation policy applies (see below).

Please get in contact ASAP if there are any other unforeseen coronavirus concerns regarding your booking.

Cancellation Policy:

Full payment – minus a $330 cancel fee – is refundable up to 30 days before any event.

If a cancellation occurs after this time, 50% of the total hire charge will be payable.

Cancellations within 48 hours of your event are non-refundable.

Limitation on Liability:

The liability of Stringspace for any damages arising out of any booking, and/or any performance, is limited to the total amount of any fee which would otherwise be payable for such a booking or performance.

Stringspace is covered for Public Liability by Marsh Australia for up to $20,000,000.
