HOW TO BOOK WITH STRINGSPACE:

Step 1:

Choose 1 form of contact:

  • Use the online enquiry form from the Enquiries page.
  • Email your enquiry with date, time and venue address.
  • Call Lucie directly on 0412 582 437.

Step 2: Stringspace will email you a quote.

Step 3: Fill in the booking confirmation form [ pdf | doc ].

Step 4: Stringspace will email you a Music List Form & Confirmation Receipt.

Step 5: Please return your completed Music List Form & ensure final payment is made to Stringspace by 30 days prior to your event.

It is important to read all information carefully before making a booking.


STRING QUARTET BOOKINGS:

Live Performance Requirements:

  1. One chair per musician without arm rests.
  2. Adequate reading light and performance space.

Outdoor events:

Shelter from direct sunlight or rain is required. This may mean finding a location that has shade, e.g. shade from trees, a veranda close to the ceremony or a gazebo. A large secure market umbrella is also a popular solution.

If raining an alternate location for the event is required. Please note that the alternate backup inclement weather location must be organised within the same general area and booking time.

Events longer than 1.5 hours:

  • The musicians will require one 15 minute break per hour for bookings longer than 1.5 hours.
  • If booking for 2 hours or more the first break occurs after the first 90 mins. Breaks can be organised to coincide with speeches. Please note 2 hour wedding ceremony bookings only require one 5-10 minute break.
  • Please provide refreshments for events longer than 1.5 hours, & a crew meal for events 3.5 hours or longer. A canapé crew meal is required for events that are for 3-hours.

EXTRA BOOKING INFORMATION:

  • We recommend making wedding ceremony bookings for 1.25 – 1.5 hours, so that music can be performed as your guests arrive. 1 hour wedding bookings are also an option.
  • We always recommend booking for the maximum amount of time that you may require.
  • Bookings do not include rehearsals, inductions, meetings, briefings or sound checks.
  • Our string musicians arrive approx. 20 minutes early to set up. They aim to be set and ready by 10 minutes prior to the booking start time.
  • To have our musicians arrive any earlier for rehearsals, sound checks, inductions or briefings please make a longer booking.
  • There is no guarantee that our musicians will be able to stay for unexpected overtime.
  • Overtime is calculated at $50 + GST per 10 minutes per musician. There is no charge for 5 minutes only.
  • Our String Duo prices listed are for Violin & Cello.

Strings Amplification:

  • Our strings perform acoustically. We recommend professional amplification if you are expecting over 130 guests. Church weddings don’t require amplification.
  • Please factor in 10 minutes at the start of your booking for a sound check if you have pro AV booked to amplify our strings. Please have your pro AV team have all equipment in place before our musicians arrive.

Singer Prices:

Please note extra fees will apply for including a singer. Prices may vary depending on which singer you are interested in booking and whether they are required to bring their own PA. Extra prices may also occur if a singer is required to learn songs not already in their repertoire list.

Jazz Amplification:

Amplification is usually recommended for events that have over 130 guests, however double bass and guitar will almost always need some amplification. Stringspace can provide their own jazz band amplification for events with up to 200 guests. Please note all venues must have access to electrical outlets.

PA System:

Most venues will have a PA system for dealing with sound requirements. They’ll also usually have an AV person who is on-site to operate the desk/sound etc. It’s still best to double check this with your venue.

Instrumentation:

Stringspace draws on professional jazz musicians that perform on the following instruments: piano/keyboard, bass, drums, guitar & saxophone.

Dancing:

We recommend booking the jazz quartet or quintet for dancing (so that you include both drums and bass). We also recommend considering a PA system.

Set up:

Stringspace jazz band musicians aim to be set up & ready to soundcheck by 30 minutes prior to the start of your event.

Parking:

For our jazz band we require 1 parking space per musician, as our musicians usually travel separately and bring heavy equipment.

Outdoor events:

Shelter from direct sunlight or rain is required. e.g. shade from trees, a veranda or gazebo. A large secure market umbrella is also a popular solution.

If raining an alternate location for the event is required. Please note that the alternate backup inclement weather location must be organised within the same general area and booking time.

A flat concrete or wooden surface is required for outdoor events that include drums.

Extra info:

For jazz bookings please provide refreshments for events longer than 1.5 hours and a crew meal for events that are 3 hours or more. One bottle of water per musician for outdoor events is appreciated.

Jazz band musicians perform in 45 minute sets and require 1 x 15 minute break each hour.

The Confirmation Deposit to secure your booking is $330. Please note full payment is expected (and appreciated) at least 30 days prior to your event. Charges may apply for late and overdue payments.

Cancellation Policy:

The Stringspace $330 deposit is non-refundable.

Notice of any cancellation is required no later than 30 days prior to the start time of your event.

In the case of a cancellation occuring after this time, 50% of the total hire charge (plus total deposit) will be payable.

Cancellations within 48 hours of your event are non-refundable.

Limitation on Liability:

The liability of Stringspace for any damages arising out of any booking, and/or any performance, is limited to the total amount of any fee which would otherwise be payable for such a booking or performance.

Stringspace is covered for Public Liability by Marsh Australia for up to $20,000,000.
