Christina Katsimbardis:

Born in Perth, Western Australia
Studied: Bachelor of Music (Honours) from UWA; Academy Musician at the National Academy of Music in Melbourne, on full Scholarship in the Advanced Performance Program; Masters of Music at Melbourne University graduating with High Distinction.
Orchestra: Australian Chamber Orchestra, Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, West Australian Symphony Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Victorian Opera, Orchestra Victoria, Royal Melbourne Philharmonic, The Orchestra Project (Melbourne), the ANAM Orchestra and the Collegium Orchestra (Perth)
Principal player in the Mozart 250th Anniversary Concert as part of the Festival of Perth, and performed in contemporary music concerts at BMW Edge as part of the Melbourne International Arts Festival.
In 2009 Christina was the leader of the ANAM Chamber Ensemble in the production Im Wunderschönen Monat Mai, performed at the Malthouse Theatre. This performance was repeated at the 2010 Perth Festival.
Has performed in masterclasses for Richard Tognetti and was selected for the Australian Chamber Orchestra’s Emerging Artist Program under the mentorship of Helena Rathbone. She regularly performs and tours with the ACO’s development orchestra, ACO2.
One year in London studying privately with Professors David Takeno and Simon Standage with the assistance of the Tait Memorial Trust Scholarship.
Christina plays on a 1958 A.E. Smith violin and an 1890 James Tubbs bow.
In 2011 Christina returned to live in Perth

Competition winner: AJ Leckie Award for best AMusA performance in Western Australia; Finalist in the Kendall National Violin Competition; WA MTA Awards: winner of both the Open Concerto and Open Recital awards; Winner of the Geelong Advertiser Music Scholarship; Winner of the Gasgoine Silver Jubilee Award at the National Open Competition
Studied: Academy Musician at the National Academy of Music in Melbourne. Kylie studied with Alice Waten (Head of Strings) on full Scholarship in the Advanced Performance Program; Masters Degree at the Sydney Conservatorium (2009)

Clare:

Clare Tunney completed a Bachelor of Music degree at UWA before moving to Europe to pursue studies in baroque cello and viola da gamba in Germany and Switzerland
She has performed with numerous European orchestras and was a prize-winner at various international music competitions including the 2000 International Telemann Competition in Magdeburg, the Lenzewski Competition for New Music in Frankfurt, and was finalist in the 2004 International Bach Competition in Leipzig.
In 2006 Clare returned to Perth

Stringspace performed at the Sydney Opera House Marquee, for the lighting of the Sydney Harbour Bridge on the eve of World Aids Day. This event was hosted by Bono (from U2), PM Julia Gillard and Premier Kristina Kenneally. Governor General Quentin Bryce and U2's The Edge also attended.

APEC Summit

Stringspace were chosen by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet to be the feature String Quartet at the APEC summit luncheon hosted by John Howard for the President of the People's Republic of China - His Excellency Hu Jintao. This event was also attended by Former Prime Ministers Bob Hawke and Gough Whitlam and former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd

Stringspace also provided music for the APEC luncheon hosted by then Australian Prime Minister John Howard in honour of His Excellency Vladimir Putin - President of the Russian Federation at Guillaumes, Sydney Opera House. This event was also attended by former PM Kevin Rudd.

We also performed for APEC's Tourism NSW event.
