A lovely article today in polkadotbride.com about a wedding we performed at earlier this year at Icebergs, Bondi:
Lauren walked down the aisle to Stringspace playing Pachelbel’s Canon In D. She tells, “I remember walking down the aisle, faced with smiling faces of all our family and friends, and seeing Phil – who had a mixture of nerves and excitement written all over his face. In the corner of my eye the clouds were clearing in the sky leaving a rainbow over North Bondi. I couldn’t fully appreciate it as I had to focus on getting down the aisle without tripping up, however, when I did see all the pretty colours up in the sky I remember thinking it was a very good sign!
Lauren and Phil were married at Bondi Icebergs Club.“The ceremony was held under a marquee on the pool deck at Bondi Icebergs. We had family and friends traveling from overseas, so loved how our ceremony was going to be held at an iconic Sydney landmark. It was so beautiful being able to say our vows with the waves crashing below us. It also provided the perfect backdrop for our photos after. We love the beach and outdoor lifestyle so this location suited us perfectly, having it under a marquee added a touch of elegance and shelter against the elements.
Having live music made all the difference. The string quartet made the special moment of the ceremony all the more emotional and moving. Walking down the aisle felt like a fairytale moment.”
Tonight we are for the 1st time providing Spanish music for an event! José will be playing solo Spanish guitar at a Spanish wine tasting evening hosted by Freehills for their clients at Commonwealth Bank, on Castlereagh Street, Sydney.

We are really excited to be playing at an event in Sydney tonight with Natasha Pincus as the guest speaker. Natasha Pincus directed and produced the hugely successful Gotye video “Somebody That I Used To Know”, which has been viewed more than 1/2 a billion times on YouTube.
Apparently, it took more than 23 hours to paint both Gotye and Kimbra to match the background painting. We feel very honoured to be asked to perform “Somebody That I Used To Know” in this video director’s presence!
Tonight and tomorrow night Stringspace have 4 Solo Cellists performing in an improv/jazz style for Henschke Wines. Lovely feedback from a wedding that our string quartet musicians recently performed at: “Thank you so much for making Brent and my ceremony an event we will never forget. The music you created transformed the Chapter House into a sacred, special place; and walking down the aisle to your ‘fields of gold’ was simply magical. Thank you and best wishes, Hannah.” Thank you Hannah! X
“When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we’ll see
No I won’t be afraid
Oh, I won’t be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me”
RIP Ben E. King
Summertime is such a classic! We had to do it!
Big congratulations to our Sydney violinist Freya Franzen for winning a job with Melbourne Symphony earlier this week. Soon she’ll be playing more with our Melbourne team! Lucky Melbourne!! xx

Pete Smith – events manager at Mansion Hotel & Spa.
Today was another full day of Stringspace weddings, this time in Sydney, Melbourne (x 2) and Perth. Coincidentally, we seemed to have had the hymn “Be Thou My Vision” happening in Sydney and Melbourne at the same time. “Fly Me To the Moon” as a recessional, “A Thousand Years” & “Over the Rainbow” were popular song choices too.
Tonight Peter is performing as a soloist at Melbourne Crown. He’s going to be fantastic!

Today Briana sang at a lovely Sydney wedding with our guitarist, Peter. The booking started with PJ playing solo jazz/pop guitar, and then Briana joined in from the ceremony onwards. Peter was recently a prize-winner at the Wangaratta Jazz Guitar Awards, so he’s pretty amazing!
Their special requests included Ain’t Nobody by Chaka Khan as the recessional.
Looking forward to our two Sydney weddings tomorrow – both with Hana, Tom, and Ollie. Our Adelaide players, Ali and Ewen, are also all set to play at the Authenticity Spa Resort at Port Elliott.

Our client said that our string quartet and jazz band that performed at their wedding in Kirribilli, and reception at Catalina’s, Rose Bay, a couple years ago was such a highlight for them they wanted to book again!
Here’s Stringspace’s latest clip. This one’s Nathaniel playing an electric bass cover of the Michael Jackson song “Human Nature”.

Lovely feedback today from our string quartet musicians performance at the National Gallery of Australia:
This is just a little note to say thank you for all of your assistance prior to our event, and to thank the musicians who made up the talented string quartet on Saturday night. The music was beautiful and exactly the right thing to set off the exquisite meal and gorgeous flowers. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them again for staying on after the scheduled time, we were running fairly late, and it would have left a bit of gap if the musicians had left early, so thank you again.
With best wishes,
National Gallery of Australia
Today Stringspace had three events: a wedding each in Adelaide, Sydney, and Canberra. We performed mostly Beatles hits at the Sydney one.

So that happened.

Stringspace is all set for a big weekend of weddings. We have musicians playing in Paddington, The Summit in Adelaide, Kew, the Melbourne CBD, Sergeants Mess in Mosman, and at a private residence which is a secret from the groom – so we can’t really say anything more there!

We’re hoping for beautiful weather in three cities tomorrow!

Here’s the original:
Tonight our Stringspace String Quartet featured at the opening party of the new “Living Edge” showroom in Alexandria. This was one of the most amazing events that our musicians have EVER performed at, and we have performed at a lot of events! There were shucked oysters and champagne for all Living Edge’s 500 guests.
Stringspace looked after the amplification, which is something that we now offer for our Sydney events. Our new DPA’s sounded awesome in the big warehouse space!
We were given a playlist of our more “edgy” pop string quartet songs to play. We included The Presets, Sia and Lorde mixed in with Goteye, Beyonce and Jackson 5.
The guests started dancing to “Single Ladies”, and a whole lot of instagramming was going on of our string quartet by the extremely stylish guests throughout the night. Check out #livingedge

Here’s a little blog entry from Pete about the wedding he performed at today:
Actually, it was kinda special in that…
Under the shade of a small willow tree, Lily and Peter were positioned so in every turn of the head there was something to savour; behind them, the sweeping vines growing the grapes used to create famous Mornington Peninsula wines. These wines were then served at the reception in the restaurant, which sat to the left of Lily and Peter. On the right was a tranquil lake, with families of ducks floating past. Together these views served as the frame for the beautiful wedding ceremony of Lisa and Matthew on Saturday afternoon.
Aside from this, it was a pretty straight forward gig.
Today more photos started arriving back in the post from our latest 2 day film/photo shoot 🙂
